About Us
Lerro Candy Company was founded by my grandfather, John Lerro. He started making candy and ice cream in the late 1800's. In 1916 he opened an ice cream parlor in Philadelphia, PA. Candy & ice cream were made in the back of the store, and my grandmother did all the chocolate hand coating.
In 1950 his two sons, moved the candy-making to the outskirts of Philadelphia where we are still located today. My uncle passed about 35 years ago and my dad who has also passed worked in the business into his eighties. I really miss him, but I am continuing to make candy not because it's 3 generations (now four generations), but because I like it.
